For the Castchange of DIRTY DANCING Berlin we are looking for : JOHNNY CASTLE : Male, Caucasian, to play mid 20s – late 30s. Must be tall (min.180cm), extremely handsome and masculine with an excellent physique. Has a natural charisma that attracts attention when he walks into a room. Guarded yet energetic, graceful and commanding. Under his charismatic sex appeal, he doubts his worth as a person. Must be an excellent dancer with strong acting instincts. Experience in Latin and Ballroom dancing a plus, but not required. DOES NOT NEED TO SING. Lead. PENNY : Female. Caucasian, to play mid 20s. Spectacular dancer and good actor. Tall (min.170cm) with a terrific figure and long legs. Penny is a dance instructor who grew up with Johnny. She is delicate but fierce; fragile and elegant of spirit. Though she dances with effortless fluidity and grace of movement, she has had to fight for what she has become. Experience in Latin and Ballroom dancing a plus but not required. DOES NOT NEED TO SING. Principal. TITO SUAREZ : Male, to play African-American from the American South („Tito“ is his stage name), to play 40s – 70s. Actor who can sing and move well. A handsome man. He is the band leader so he should have great timing as he will `conduct´ the onstage band. He is a trusted friend, confidante and mentor to the people he has worked for and with at Kellerman’s for 40 years. A man with great moral authority for everyone. We sometimes detect a sadness about roads not taken. This role is expanded from the movie. Featured. ELISABETH : Female, any ethnicity, to play 20s – 30s. Contemporary pop/rock singer who is comfortable with some dance. Belt with soprano. She sings in the show – songs may include “Magic Moment”, “Do You Love Me”, “Yes”, “The Time of My Life”, and “We Shall Overcome”. Featured. JORDAN : Male, any ethnicity, to play 20s – 30s. Contemporary pop/rock singer who is comfortable with some dance. Tenor or Bari-tenor range. He sings in the show – songs may include “Do You Love Me”, “Yes”, “Still of the Night” and “The Time of My Life”. Featured. DANCERS : Any ethnicity, to play teens – early 40s. Must be excellent dancers. They play staff kids as well as guests at Kellerman’s. Partnering skills are essential. Training in Latin and Ballroom a plus. Singing and German language a plus. DIRTY DANCING is not a musical as much as it is a play with music and dance. Though the actors should have some dance ability and a few members of the cast sing.
